We love our sports, the spirit of competition and it’s time to bring it all back–right in our homes with family and friends. We are turning our biggest sports fans into the biggest players! And let’s share it with the world!

#GamingTogether is designed to appeal to anyone at any age that makes time to connect with their loved ones by playing a game—whether a kid, parent, grandparent, roommate, business leader, gamer (amateur/pro), athlete (amateur/pro), celebrity or person struggling with the quarantine or starving for a little fun.

Beating COVID-19

We are facing an unprecedented time in history with COVID-19. Social distancing, self-isolation, self-quarantine, and stay-home-work-safe orders issued across our city, surrounding areas, and the world are driving us to reprioritize our lives, work, time, and families in unimaginable ways. Whether you are an individual living alone or a family confined to your home, our day-to-day social circles and face-to-face interactions have become largely focused on those that we are living with and trying to keep isolated and healthy.

Though historical events have disrupted our daily lives in the past, we retained our freedom and ability to escape harsh realities for brief moments by watching or attending traditional sporting events. However, the current pandemic does not allow for that, and many of us are not accustomed to spending this amount of time with our families—with kids requiring more attention & nurturing, while also dealing with the stress and anxiety of their parents.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Houston’s only professional esports team, the Houston Outlaws, and the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority have partnered to encourage families to play at home…to game at home…together.

We’re launching this city-wide gaming PSA effort to bring Houstonians together beginning April 9, and we plan to feature some of the most prominent names in gaming, arts, sports, media, and music in H-Town and beyond.

Houston Outlaws (Lori Burgess, COO)

“The Houston Outlaws are thrilled to be in partnership with the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority to launch this city-wide #GamingTogether campaign,” said Outlaws Chief Operating Officer Lori Burgess. “Through our joint efforts, we intend to celebrate a renewed sense of family and community during this challenging time by bringing Houstonians of all ages together to play games at home in the spirit of competition while supporting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which includes our local Texas Children’s Hospital. “We hope that our #GamingTogether effort will bring some much-needed entertainment into the community- especially to those kids that are in our nation’s Children’s hospitals fighting their own battles while separated from their families, as they struggle to heal without the daily contact of family members.”

Harris County – Houston Sports Authority (Janis Burke, CEO)

“The Harris County – Houston Sports Authority has outstanding relationships with every Houston pro sports team,” said Houston Sports Authority Chief Executive Officer Janis Burke. “Partnering with the City of Houston’s new and only professional esports team, the Houston Outlaws for the #GamingTogether effort to benefit the CMN Hospitals, including Texas Children’s Hospital, is a terrific opportunity for everyone from our local sports community to provide some financial relief, entertainment, and inspiration during this unprecedented time to families across our county and country.”

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (Michael Kinney, Managing Director of Extra Life)

“We are thrilled to have the Houston Outlaws and the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority is supporting Extra Life by raising funds and awareness through their #GamingTogether initiative locally and nationally,” said Extra Life Managing Director, Michael Kinney. “The donations we raise for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals COVID-19 Impact Fund will help the 170 CMN Hospitals working across the United States and Canada have the resources they need to keep families safe during the COVID-19 crisis.”
